Marine Awarded Medal of Valor 48 Years After Action


Roger Kimble has waited 48 years to receive his medal of valor, for his service in the Vietnam war. Kimble was part of a three-man machine gun crew operating around Phu Bai in northern South Vietnam on May 18, 1966. He was wounded when the truck he was riding in hit a booby trap.

Despite burns to both arms and shrapnel in his right knee, Kimble helped save the life of one Marine who was engulfed in flames and pulled three others away from the burning vehicle to safety.
